WACO Releases New KYCO Video

The Washington Association of County Officials is proud to release a new Know Your County Officials (KYCO) video featuring Skagit County Coroner Hayley Thompson. The video restarts the KYCO video campaign which aims to educate the public about County Official’s roles and job responsibilities, and features members of the Washington Association of County Officials.

In the past, WACO has published KYCO videos featuring Mike Lonergan, the Pierce County Assessor/Treasurer and Mary Hall, the Thurston County Auditor. Filming was temporarily halted due to social distancing restrictions associated with COVID-19. Once WACO staff was vaccinated, and it was safer to travel to county official’s offices – the videotaping restarted once again!

KYCO provides education about the roles of elected county officials in the State of Washington. This video details the roles and responsibilities of the elected County Coroner in Washington. Coroner Thompson covers a wide range of information related to coroners and medical examiners in Washington State, while also addressing some public misconceptions about the role of being a coroner.

Coroner Thompson has been a death investigator for the past 16 years and was certified with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators in 2008. Coroner Thompson stated that becoming the coroner for the county she resides in “allowed me to become involved in my community and help families with the loss of their loved ones.” Thank you again for your time Coroner Thompson!
