We’re only two months into 2023, but officials all over Washington state have been busy fulfilling their duties, supporting the community, and adding to their teams. With all the hustle and bustle it can be easy to forget to celebrate. Wins and events, both big and small, in our own offices and those of our peers deserve to be recognized. Over the next week, WACO will be compiling a collection of updates from member offices throughout the state to help you see and celebrate the achievements and community interactions happening all around us.
Today we’re starting with the sheriff’s offices of Washington!
- The Adams County Sheriff’s Office had a get-together to honor their service to our community.
- The Asotin County Sheriff’s Office worked with Asotin County Fire District #1 to train on life-saving skills.
- The Benton County Sheriff’s Office awarded Deputy Tominey Law Enforcement Division Employee of the Year.
- Sheriff Morrison of the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office visited Columbia Elementary for Dr. Seuss Day.
- Sheriff Brian King of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office promoted Harold Edwards from Patrol Deputy to Patrol Sergeant and Patrol Sergeant Brian Knutson to Detective Sergeant.
- The Clark County Sheriff’s Office recognized the work and dedication of Deputy Hulsey.
- The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office performed an unexpected rescue when a bird tried to join their office.
- The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office visited with Mansfield School to visit with students and explain what law enforcement and use of 911.
- The Ferry County Sheriff’s Office dispatch team helped rescue a lost skier.
- The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the graduation of Corrections Deputies Wright and Wolfe.
- Sheriff Hyer of the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office took part in a fundraiser that brought in over $20,000 to support shelters.
- The Grant County Sheriff’s Office visited Grant Elementary School to have a snowball fight – and the kids won!
- The Gray’s Harbor Sheriff’s Office celebrated the graduation of Corrections Deputy Sidney Pollard.
- At the tail end of December, the Island County Sheriff’s Office helped to rescue over 50 animals after receiving a report of animal cruelty.
- The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office welcomed Troy Surber, Darryl Elmore, and Eric Morris to their team.
- The King County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the graduation of Deputies Mazur, Stinson, Anderson, Curaming, and Lemus.
- The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office celebrated 19 new and promoted employees.
- The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office and KCFD7 Firefighters trained together for two days to get new ice rescue certifications.
- The Mason County Sheriff’s Office presented Lifesaving awards to two team leaders that revived a child.
- Sheriff Budrow of the Okanogan Sheriff’s Office administered the Oath of Office to his administration.
- The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the promotion of Sergeant Pettit.
- At the tail end of December, the Pend Oreille Sheriff’s Office helped rescue many animals that needed care.
- The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department celebrated the graduation of Deputy Rasheen Farell.
- The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office hosted multiple Coffee with a Cop events to interact with the community.
- The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the graduation of Deputy Adam Brown.
- The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office hosted the February Snohomish County Sheriff and Police Chiefs Association meeting.
- The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office welcomed three new lateral deputies.
- Sheriff Manke of the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office swore in Deputy Tomas Wysocki.
- The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office conducted an active shooter, first aid, and defensive tactics training at JBLM.
- The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the graduation of local D.A.R.E. students.
- The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office celebrated Deputy Randy Adrian’s 40th anniversary with the office.
- The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the graduation of Colfax D.A.R.E. students.
- The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office completed an extensive first aid training course focused on K9 first aid.
