Member Profile: Grant County Treasurer Darryl Pheasant

Darryl Pheasant was elected Grant County Treasurer in 1986 at the age of twenty seven. With over thirty years as an elected County Treasurer, Darryl's tenure is tied for second with Kirke Sievers for the longest currently sitting County Treasurer. Only Doug Lasher has been in office for longer. Darryl Pheasant does not see retirement on the immediate horizon, as he currently plans to run for his 9th term as County Treasurer next year.

Darryl has two children, daughters Allison and Sarah, attending Whitowrth University and Eastern Washington University respectively. Like his daughter Sarah, Darryl attended Eastern - and graduated with a BA in finance, with a minor in economics.

Darryl is active in supporting his daughters' many sports and arts activities, as well as stayed active in musical theater. Over the past twelve years, Darryl has been in over twenty plays and musicals, and was elected to the Masquers Hall of Fame in 2016. His most recent role was as Mr. Salt (Veruca's father) in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Beyond the stage, Darryl has been President of the Masquers Theater, and is a Past-President of the local Rotary as well.

For the last several years Darryl Pheasant has been the Department of Revenue Liaison, and is currently working to clean up the Landlord Lien process to handle mobile home issues. Darryl had long been a champion of the advance tax reform that passed the legislature this session, next year and is excited to tackle a new challenge in future legislative sessions.
