WACO Announces Effective Lobbying Campaign Training
WACO is delighted to announce a new training opportunity for the WACO Membership and their employees. On Tuesday, July 20th, 2021 the WACO Lobbying Team will host a comprehensive training covering the tools and methods of developing an effective lobbying campaign for your office. Through this training, members will learn to define their priorities and positions, plan the course of their campaign, learn how to successfully engage the legislature and follow up after the legislative session.
The WACO Legislative Team has over 60 years of combined experience in the legislature. Since 2015, WACO saw 27 bills successfully passed, seven successful proposals in 2019, and five in 2020. In 2021 WACO brought forth 8 priority bills, 6 of which were successfully passed. Among them, the first cross-affiliate bill in recent history, which gained us repeated praise for its no-cost continuity of operations focus and the collaboration among affiliates it represented. This success is partly due to the off-season, when it is imperative that WACO Lobbying staff maintains healthy relationships with the State Legislature, this approach includes making sure all members are equipped with the necessary tools needed to become successful in the legislative process
This training will build on the tools outline in the November 2020 Legislative 101 Training, which you can watch here.
When asked why WACO members should attend the training, Executive Director Wallace responded “while WACO’s legislative team provides direct legislative advocacy for our members, it is also essential that legislators hear from county elected officials themselves. This training will build on the tools outlined in our Legislative 101 training and will provide the foundational knowledge and tools needed to establish and maintain positive legislative relationships and influence the outcome of the legislative process.”
