63rd Annual WACO Conference Theme Announced
For more than a year, The Washington Association of County Officials and their affiliates moved their in-person conferences and events to online platforms to maintain public health safety guidelines combating the Corona Virus. Although there were many benefits of hosting meetings in a virtual format, many counties missed the in-person interaction and the overall feel of in-person events.
This year, WACO is delighted to announce our 63rd Annual Conference will be held in-person from October 5th - October 7th at the beautiful Hotel Murano in Tacoma, WA.
Each year, the current WACO President is tasked with choosing a conference theme they believe demonstrates the attitude of the over-all WACO membership. This year, President Greg Zempel chose the theme “Together Again” for the 63rd Annual Conference Theme. When asked about what lead him to choose this sediment, President Zempel responded:
“When contemplating a theme for the 2021 conference, I wanted to choose a theme that spoke to the importance of unity throughout our WACO membership, but also acknowledged the milestone of meeting in-person after more than a year apart due to COVID-19. Our 2021 theme –Together Again – highlights this landmark conference of meeting after the pandemic, in a time when WACO’s cross-affiliate bonds are stronger than ever. It will be a joy to see everyone networking at our conference in October, as we are always better together and although we found ways to connect virtually in 2020, we will truly be Together Again in October 2021”
