The Washington Association of County Officials (WACO) is delighted to announce a new monthly virtual event for WACO Members and their staff.
“Packed Lunch” will occur every second Wednesday of the month from 12:00PM – 1:00PM and host content experts to lead conversation on topics relevant to county officials. Different than WACO’s normally scheduled educational training, this event will be a two-way conversation for speakers to not only present expert subject matter, but also listen to the current challenges county officials are facing related to each topic.
This new event is also an opportunity for WACO members to become more familiar with their Category Counties, and Category Counties’ Trustee at Large. Towards the end of the event attendees will be divided into Zoom breakout rooms based on their category county. This is an opportunity to discuss that month’s topic and discover how it affects counties that are like your own.
WACO is excited to host the first Packed Lunch in October:
A Packed Lunch October: Engaging the Hybrid Workforce Across Generations
Engaging and motivating multiple generations in the workplace may not be as easy as it sounds, especially in the hybrid work environment. Each generation can have different expectations, communication styles, goals, and perspectives. Because each generation is shaped by its own unique historical context and cultural experiences, they often have a shared perspective about the world that is different from those of other age groups. This presents supervisors with the challenge of figuring out how to create a workplace where engagement, loyalty and productivity are high, despite the differences among those different generational groups.
After completing this session, the participant will:
- -Identify the five generations in the global workforce
- -List major current challenges in working with generational differences
- -Describe generational differentiators and fears - and things in common, too
- -Determine ways to engage and motivate each generation in the hybrid workforce
